Mechanism of Action

A

5 HT3 receptor antagonist; Ondansetron will block the effects of serotonin in the vagal afferents in the GI system and in the central vomiting system; serotonin is a neurotransmitter that may cause nausea and vomiting; so inhibiting these receptors will lead to anti-emetic effects
