Mechanism of Action
5 HT3 receptor antagonist; Ondansetron will block the effects of serotonin in the vagal afferents in the GI system and in the central vomiting system; serotonin is a neurotransmitter that may cause nausea and vomiting; so inhibiting these receptors will lead to anti-emetic effects
Indications
Nausea, vomiting
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, coadministration with apomorphine (Parkinson’s medication)

Headache, fatigue, constipation, dizziness

4 mg PO, IV/IO
Pediatric Dose
0.1 mg/kg IV/IO
