Drug Classification
NSAID; Non-opioid analgesic
Mechanism of Action
COX inhibitor; Toradol blocks cyclooxygenase. Cyclooxygenase is responsible for creating prostaglandins. Inhibiting these substances will lead to decreased pain, fever, and inflammation
Indications
Moderate to severe pain
Contraindications
Allergy, pregnancy, renal insufficiency, peptic ulcer, potential for bleeding/ likely to need surgery, undifferentiated abdominal pain, suspected fractures
Side effects / Precautions
Headache, GI pain, somnolence, nausea
Adult Dose
15 mg IV/IO/IM Do NOT combine with other NSAID
Pediatric Dose
0.5 mg/kg not indicated in CT protocol

60 mg (15 mg)

30 minutes (IV/IO/IM)
