Anonymous testing
Providing an individual information on the biomedical aspects of HIV/AIDS and emotional support to any psychological implications
Pre-test counseling
Process of providing risk-reduction information and emotional support
Post-test counseling
Refers to any agent/device used to prevent transmission of a disease
Prophylactic
Refers to the period of time usually lasting from 2 weeks to 6 months during which an infected individual will test negative upon HIV testing
Window period
No compulsory HIV testing shall be allowed on:
- Employment
- Educational institution
- Exercise for freedom of abode
- Travel abroad
Exception to the Prohibition on Compulsory Testing
- Charged with criminal offense
- Determination of HIV status under the “Family Code of the PH”
- When donating blood
Release of HIV/AIDS test results
- person in request form
- either parent of minor child
- legal guardian of insane persons or orphans
- authorized person in conjunction with the AIDSWATCH program
- a justice of the Court of Appeals
Disclosure of sexual partners
Any person with HIV is obliged to disclose his/her HIV and health status to his/her spouse/sexual partner at the earliest opportune time
