  • light is a metaphor for people , or God
  • he has desires even before meeting lady macbeth…dark desires meaning to do things which are bad …which are killing Duncan (treason) 🔪
  • the desires are deep inside him …these thoughts are not insignificant , they overwhelm and flood macbeths mind
  • we learn about the power of the supernatural…it changed Macbeth who is seen as brave and good , within one scene were able to transform his entire character
  • the supernatural is a catalyst to macbeths character change

  • he is carrying his guilt in his own hands
  • when he kills Duncan he feels bad but as human nature the more we do it , the more normal it becomes
  • macbeth is used to killing for the army and for the right reason …not used to killing the king (his ambition is so great he is willing to do this which no one else would do)
  • macbeth almost becomes emotionless 😑

  • shadow represents power..ambition..titles..kingship
  • macbeth is always chasing power..ambition..titles…kingship but can never catch it
  • he first wanted to be king …then he wanted to kill banquo and fleeonce so that his lineage to be king..its a constant pursuit
  • for the first time macbeth questions himself
