Q

Utilités de la topographie et de la tomographie?

A

Corneal topography AND tomography are useful for :
- Determining the curvature (keratometry) of the cornea
- Determing the axis of astigmatism of the anterior cornea
- Screening for keratoconus

In addition, corneal tomography is also useful for :
- Measuring the corneal thickness(pachymetry)
- Evaluating the posterior surface of the cornea

Q

Atteinte épithéliale versus atteinte stromale dans l’infection à herpès simplex?

A

Épithélium = source de l’infection

Q

Qu’est-ce The Herpetic Eye Disease Study (HEDS)?

A

Multicenter, prospective, double-masked placebo controlled clinical trial

To evaluate the efficacy of topical STEROIDS and oral ACYCLOVIR in treatment of HVS STROMAL keratitis

Conclusions STEROIDS
- Topical steroids were significantly better than placebo
- Reduced the persistence or progression of stroll inflammation
- Shortened the duration of HSV stroll keratitis

Conclusion ACYCLOVIR
- No statistically or clinically significant beneficial effect in treatment in patients already on topical steroids and viroptic
