Irreverent questions included to distract the respondent
Why is it important to consider sequence of questions during a questionnaire?
It is best to start with easy ones and leave questions that might make them feel anxious until the end
What is a pilot study?
The questions can be tested in a small group of people, this means the questions can be changed due to the feedback the pilot study gives you

Combines both structured and unstructured interviews, starts with pre determined questions but further questions are developed as a response to the answer
What is the semi structured interview also called?
Clinical interview
What are some limitations of questionnaires? 2
Answers may not be truthful because of leading questions and social desirability bias
The sample may be biased because only certain kinds of people fill in them-e.g. People that are willing to spend the time on them
What are 3 strengths of structured interviews?
Easily repeated
Requires less interviewing skill
More easy to analyse because answers are more predictable
What are 2 limitations of structured interviews?
The interviewers expectations may influence the answers the interviewee gives INTERVIEWER BIAS
Reliability may be affected by the same interviewer behaving differently on different occasions or different interviewers asking different questions
What are 2 strengths of unstructured interviews?
More detailed information can be obtained from each respondent
Can access information that may not be revealed by predetermined questions
What are 2 limitations of unstructured interviews?
Affected by interviewer bias as the interviewer is developing new questions on the go which might be less objective
More expensive as it requires well trained interviewers
What is 2 ways to overcome participants guessing the aim of your study in a questionnaire?
Use filler questions
The interviewee avoiding getting anxious
How would you know if your questionnaire is going to work? 1

What ethical issues are there with questionnaires? 2
Confidentiality
Asking questions too personal
