What is a structured interview and what are the adv and dis adv
They are verbal questions which are pre determined and asked by the interviewer
What’s a strength of this - they are easy to replicate and interviewer can explain questions which are not understood properly
What’s a limitation- interviews may not be honest , may want to be seen as sociallay desirable
The presence of interviewer can have an impact on how participants respond. - interviewer effect
What is an unstructured interview?
More like a conversation as the questions can have follow up questions, can go in any direction
Adv - more info and understanding.
Weakness- difficult to replicate
Unreliable and not consistent
Difficult to analyse
What is time sampling?
Observing at different intervals - pre established time frame
This is effective in reducing the number of observations that need to be made , however could miss important information
What’s is event sampling?
Focuses on pre selected behaviour and records every time it happens
Useful when events happen infrequently
