LAB (linear arithmetic blocks) how does it demonstrate epistemically fidelity

The affordance for learning are

LAB origins

Provide an example of how you would use them to teach a particular mathematical concept

A

LAB suitable materials for teaching decimal concepts

LAB have epistemically fidelity due to it demonstrating the relationship between numbers including decimal numbers and their place value this allows teachers to visually demonstrate mathematical concepts allowing students to easily compare how digital in each place value position represents a part of a number.

be easily compare decimals and can also model addition and subtraction of decimals

LAB to teach decimals addition and subtraction decimals where I would provide students with LAB materials (which I would of explained how to use in an earlier lesson) and give the students two set of numbers which contain a decimals point students and ask to students which number is bigger first then lead them to add the numbers together
Students would then use the LAB materials laying out the tens first and so on until the number is represented in LAB,
