quantitative chapter 14 Flashcards
What is an alternate hypothesis?
A prediction that there is a relationship or there is a difference that hasn’t occurred through typical error
null hypothesis
no relationship or no difference between two variables
hypothesis testing
the process we go through to to determine whether or not we reject or accept the null hypothesis
sampling error
degree to which a sample probably differs with respect to a specific variable in the population
significance testing is
detemining whether you can accept or reject the null hypothesis - whether or not you’re relationship is significant or not
the standard probability level is always going to be
0.05
the second and third parts of a significance test are
calculated value and critical value
two-tailed hypothesis
leaves open the direction of a difference or relationship
one-tailed hyopthesis
there is a relationship
effect size
strength of a relationship or magintude of a difference which occurs between two variables
