103 : Premises, furniture and equipment to be safe, clean and in good repair
All equipment and furniture used must be safe, clean and in good repair
104 : Fencing
Any outdoor spaces must be enclosed by a fence or barrier so children can not go through, over or under it.
This does not apply to a centre that primarily provides care to over preschool children
And does not apply to a family day care residence for over preschool age
105 : Furniture, materials and equipment
Children must have access to sufficient furniture, materials and developmental appropriate equipment suitable for the education and care of that child.
106 : Laundry and hygiene facilities
1) The service must have laundry services or access to laundry facilities or other arrangements to deal with soiled clothing, nappies and linen including hygienic facilities for storage prior to disposal or laundering
2) The facilities must be located in a way that it does not pose a risk to children
107 : Indoor Space Requirements
The approved provider must ensure that each child has 3.25 square meters of unencumbered indoor space. However the following must be excluded:
1) Any passageway
2) Toilets or hygiene facilities
3) Nappy changing or bottle preparing areas
4) Permanent cot storage areas
5) Permanent storage areas
6) Staff or administration rooms
7) Any other unsuitable spaces for children
8) The kitchen unless its being used by children as parts of an educational program
Veranda’s can be included as 1 area either for indoor or outdoor, can not be both.
108: Outdoor Space Requirements
The approved provider must ensure that their is 7 square meters of outdoor space for each child. However the following must be excluded:
1) Any pathway
2) Car park area
3) Storage area
4) Any other unsuitable space
Indoor can be included as outdoor for over preschool if the Regulatory Authority has given written approval and that space was not already included as indoor space
109 : Toilet and Hygiene Facilities
Adequate, developmentally, and age appropriate toilet, washing and drying facilities are provided for use by children and must be located in a safe and convenient location.
110: Ventilation and Natural Light
The approved Provider must ensure the premises
a) is well ventilated
b) has adequate natural light
c) Maintains a temperature ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children
111 : Administrative Space
The approved provider must ensure the premises has areas to conduct administrative functions, areas to consult with parents and areas to conduct private conversations.
112: Nappy and Change Facilities
Adequate hygiene facilities must be provided for nappy changing including
- at least 1 proper bench if there are any children under 3
- hand cleansing facilities for adults in the immediate vicinity of that area.
- Must prevent unsupervised access by children
113: Outdoor Space - Natural Environment
The AP must ensure that the outdoor spaces allow children to explore the natural environment.
114: Outdoor Space - Shade
The AP must ensure that the outdoor space include adequate shaded areas to protect children from overexposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun.
115 : Premises designed to facilitate supervision.
The approved provider must ensure the premises is designed and maintained in a way so children are supervised at all times having regard to the dignity of the children.
116 : Assessment of Family day care residences and approved family day care venues
The approved provider must conduct an assessment of each venue before education/care is provided to ensure the health safety and wellbeing of children
117 : Glass at family Day Care
The AP must ensure the glass is Safety Glass or treated with a product that prevents it from shattering.
