Quality Flashcards
What is the purpose of the Quality theme?
To define and implement the means by which a project will create and verify products that are fit-for-purpose.
What is the definition of quality?
The degree to which a set of inherent characteristics or a product, service, process, person, or organisation, system, or resource fulfils its requirements.
What is the difference between quality expectations and quality criteria?
Quality expectations are often abstract statements that must be translated into acceptance criteria in order to be meaningfully tested, measured, and verified.
What is the difference between quality criteria and acceptance criteria?
Acceptance criteria are measurable quality controls that determine how well the project has met its requirements. These determine when the project is “done”.
Quality criteria define how you measure the quality of a completed product and how well specifications have been met at the product level. These determine if a specific product has met business expectations and requirements.
What is quality management?
Quality management is the co-ordinated activity to direct and control an organisation in regard to quality.
What is quality control?
Quality control refers to ensuring that products built meet quality criteria as stated in the product description. Quality control is not an optional process.
What is the role of project assurance in the quality process?
- Ensuring that the tests were done.
- Ensuring that the right people were conducting tests.
- Ensuring that the correct and applicable standards were used.
- Ensuring that any required equipment was appropriately and accurately calibrated.
What is quality planning?
Quality planning defines the products to be tested, their respective quality criteria, quality methods, quality responsibilities, and the effort required in quality control and product approval.
Quality planning:
* obtains approval from the project board on the overall approach to quality;
* communicates these agreements to all stakeholders; and
* establishes an effective baseline for quality.
What are the minimum process and document requirements for the Quality theme?
- Define the quality management approach
- Specify quality criteria for all products
- Maintain records
- Specify quality expectations and prioritised acceptance criteria
- Use lessons from previous projects to inform quality planning
- Quality Management Approach
- Quality Register
What is the role of the project product description in the Quality theme?
The PPD defines what the project must deliver to gain acceptance (i.e., outline acceptance criteria).
What is the Quality Management Approach?
The Quality Management Approach describes how quality will be managed in the project, including methods (processes, procedures, techniques) and frequency of testing, quality tolerances, responsibilities, documentation, and standards to be used.
What is a product description?
Describes the nature of a specific product, its function and appearance, users, and the skills and sources of information required to build it.
For the quality theme, it specific outlines the quality criteria and tolerance for a product, the methods used, and the responsibilities (producer, tester, approver).
What is a quality register?
The quality register is a diary of quality events that take place during a project and provides a summary of all quality management activities that are planned or have taken place, providing information for the end stage report and end project report.
What is the quality review technique?
Quality activities are either in-process (throughout the build cycle) or appraisal (at the end of the build cycle).
1) Review preparation - test the product
2) Review meeting - discuss the product, define any actions, and determine the success of the review
3) Review follow up - resolve, recheck, and sign off
What are the roles in the quality review technique?
Chair - organises and oversees the quality process
Reviewer - tests the product, checking it against the product description
Presenter - presents the product to the reviewer and represents the producer
Administrator - provides support and records results and actions
Approver - provides final review for the product; signs off
