Describe the entrapped procedure.

The entrapped procedure is to allow the BA wearer to maximise the duration of their available air in the event of becoming trapped or being unable to withdraw from the risk area.

Question 2

If you are in the BA team that has become trapped and the team leader instructs you to carry out the entrapped procedure whilst they contact ECO. What actions would you take and why is it necessary?

Answer 2

1. Operate ADSU
2. Relax as much as possible by assuming reclined or seated position
3. Breath calmly and gently to maintain air
4. Don’t use supplementary air function
5. Don’t adjust cylinder valve other than to see it’s fully open.

It’s necessary to do this as it allows you to have the maximum air for as long as possible when your trapped or unable to withdraw
