treatment for mastitis
A
- continued breast feeding
- dicloxacillin 500 mg QID
- if mild allergy cephalexin 500 mg QID
- if severe allergy, clinda or erythromycin

what is most common bacteria?
A
- staph; can be staph arues
- coag negative staph or streptococcus viridians also possible

what to do if abx not improving mastitis in 48 hrs?
A
- consider augmentin or something with beta lactamase inhibitor
- US/eval for abscess
- consider MRSA possibility
