Pulmonary: Breathing Exercises Flashcards

1
Q

Diaphragmatic Breathing

A
  • Patient is supine
  • Therapist places hand on stomach and subcostal angle and gently
  • Therapist applies gentle pressure throughout the exhalation phase
  • Increase to firm pressure at the end of exhalation phase
  • Patient inhales against therapists resistance
  • Progress to independent from therapists hand in upright sitting, standing, walking, and stair climbing

Q
