What is a PULD cast?

A

We use the Pick-up and Lay-down cast (PULD) to learn and practice an important fly casting building block:

  • how to quietly pick up a fly from the water and then efficiently deliver it to its target.

    Stance

  3. 4 STEPS Breakdown PULD (to better understand cast)
    Always start with Tip in water - line straight!
    Then say:
    PU - Backcast - Forward cast - Delivery
    “1 - 2 - 3 - 4”
  4. 4 additional key DETAILS to make cast work
    Stop - pause - Smooth accel. - high rod tip to high rod tip
  5. Summary - (demo review)
