Time when a child’s body develops and changes. Sexual organs mature, enable body to produce sex cells, become capable of sexual reproduction.

- body is geared towards reproduction to ensure continuation of species
- men have to produce sperm
- women have to produce egg cells

How does it start?
A
- Pituitary gland releases hormones into bloodstream that travel to immature sex organs and signal hormones to be released
- boys=testosterone
- girls=oestrogen
