What is vicarious trauma?
experienced by therapists responding to traumatic events in clients lives

What is acute stress disorder?
PTSD symptoms but less persistent

loss of life, threat to life, emotional responses

natural disasters, combat, abuse, trauma, life-changing illness
What are the psychological factors for PTSD?

What are the biological factors for PTSD?
overactive amygdala, shrunken hippocampus, low cortisol, increased epinephrine

benzodiazepines, TCAs, SSRIs, antipsychotics
