- kidnap

- threatened death
- witnessed death
- something bad happening to a loved one–> closed tether to the patient

PTSD
If a patient is experiencing a change in mood due to a non-life threatening stressor that the changes last 3-6 months, what is the diagnosis?
*patient has NO PSYCHOSIS

How old must a patient be in order to diagnose either reactive attachment disorder or disinhibited social engagement disorder?
less than 5 years
How will a child with reactive attachment disorder act?
they will be completely detached. they do not know how to attach to someone because of (more than likely) neglect from the primary care giver
How will a child with disinhibited social engagement disorder act?
They will be social with everyone. They do not react different from strangers versus primary care givers.
When considering reactive attachment disorder or disinhibited social engagement disorder, what two things should you first rule out?
- learning disability
- autism spectrum disorder
What is the time line difference between diagnosing PTSD and Acute Stress Disorder?
- time greater than 1 month is PTSD
- time greater than 1 day but less than 1 month is ASD
Treatment for reactive attachment disorder and disinhibited social engagement disorder?
Parents need to be educated on better parenting skills.
