Schizoaffective Disorder

A

uninterrupted period that involves both a mood episode (major depressive episode or manic) along with the symptoms of schizophrenia

there must be a 2 week period involving delusions or hallucinations - absent of major mood episode

mood symptoms must be present for at least 50% or more of entire duration of illness

must be 1 month or more

doesnt matter what order comes first, it can be psychosis first, then a mood episode, or mood first then psychosis, or various combinations alternating

Schizophrenia 1216

A

1 essential symptom (delusions, hallucinations or disorganized speech)

2 symptoms total required

1 month (symptoms must be present for majority of duration of the month)

-other possible symptoms: negative mood, catatonic behavior, grossly disorganized behavior

there must be clear sign of lower than normal level of functioning for 6 months

schizophreniform disorder

A

identical to schizophrenia, but duration is 1-5 months.

if 6 month plus, than its changed to schizophrenia diagnosis

A
duration is 1 day to 1 month
person must have  1 ( or more) of:
-hallucinations
-delusions
-disorganized speech
-grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior

Delusional Disorder 11

A

person is not impaired and level of functioning can be normal

1 symptom: delusion lasts at least 1 month

no other symptom of schizophrenia or psychosis present
(if there is more than 1, then its probably a schizophrenia or schizophreniform diagnosis)
