Psychotic Disorders Flashcards
Schizophrenia
A. Two of (with one being 1, 2, or 3):
- Delusions
- Hallucinations
- Disorganized speech
- Grossly disorganized or catatonic behaviour
- Negative symptoms
B. Persistent for 6 months (including one month of A).
Schizoaffective Disorder
A. Major mood episode concurrent with criterion A of schizophrenia
B. Delusions or hallucinations for 2 or more weeks in the absence of a major mood episode
C. Mood symptoms are present for the majority of the illness
Delusional Disorder
A. Delusions for at least one month
B. Criterion A of schizophrenia never met (tactile/olfactory hallucinations allowed if they fit the theme of the delusion)
C. Function not impaired outside of behavior related to the delusion
D. Doesn’t occur exclusively in the context of a mood episode or substance use
Substance Induced Psychosis
A. Presence of hallucination or delusions
B. Symptoms in the context of intoxication or withdrawal of a substance that is capable of causing psychosis
C. Symptoms do not persist after cessation of substance
D. Delirium excluded
