Anorexia Nervosa
A. Restriction of energy intake leading to significant low body weight.
B. Intense fear of/persistent behaviour that interfere with gaining weight even though at a low weight.
C. Disturbance in the way one’s body/health is experienced.
Bulimia Nervosa
A. Binge eating.
B. Compensatory behaviours to prevent weight gain.
C. Occurs once a week for three months.
D. Self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight.
E. The disturbance does not occur exclusively during episodes of AN.
Binge Eating Disorder
A. Binge Eating.
B. Binge eating associated with three of the following:
- eating too fast.
- eating too much.
- eating when not hungry.
- eating alone due to embarrassment about how much one is eating.
- feeling disgusted with oneself afterwards.
C. Distress regarding binge eating.
D. Occurs once a week for three months.
E. No compensatory mechanisms and not exclusively during the course of AN.
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder
A. Insufficient nutrition.
B. Not better explained by lack of food or by a culturally sanctioned practice.
C. Does not occur exclusively during course of AN or BN and no disturbance in the way one’s body is experienced
D. Not better explained by another medical or psychiatric condition.
