What is a psychotherapy made up of?
-A theory about human functionning, developmental psychopathology, and change/healing.
-A working alliance (backed by a theoretical vision and prescriptions/recommendations for the therapist’s behavior/attitudes)
-A ritual and methods (duration, frequency of sessions, rules, ,methods/techniques to facilitiate change)
What is evidence-based practice?
Integration of the best available research, clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture and preferences
What are the 3 types of psychodynamic therapies?
Long-term psychoanalysis (2 to 4-5 sessions per week for years), supportive-expressive psychotherapy (when needed or intermittently for a few years), short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (4 to 80 sessions, 1-2 per week).
What are the fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis?
Unconscious, (intra) psychich dynamic, trasnference and counter-transference, defense mechanism, resistance, free association, therapeutic listening, interpretation, insight
