Describe epigenetics mechanisms.
Molecular events that govern how the environment influences genomes of organisms.
Trauma and psychopathy
Child abuse associated with some parts of pp, but association is usually weak and dependent on the type of abuse.
PP factors and their relations to trauma
1) Interpersonal and affective factors unrelated to PTSD and potentially traumatic events.
2) Lifestyle factor associated with potentially traumatic event
3) Antisocial factor associated with PTSD, and with early physical abuse in male offenders
The pp’s MO…
1) Assessment
2) Manipulation - need access to the person; to privately foster the relationship; without there being any means to bring their deviant behavior to others’ attention
3) Abandonment
List and describe three aspects of personality:
1) Private self - our private thoughts, drives, needs; we want others to appreciate these; we need to believe they’re accurate
2) Public self aka persona - The “me” we want others to see, an edited version of the private self; we unintentionally revel private personality traits
3) Reputation - how others view and describe us
Four ways a psychopath assesses your personality as potential prey:
1) “I like who you are” - shows admiration for who you are
2) “I am just like you” - creates a fake persona to complement your traits
3) “Your secrets are safe with me” - to make one feel they’re understood at a deeper level - safety/security
4) “I’m the perfect friend, lover, partner for you” - builds a firm reputation in your mind of someone who you wish you were like; shares sympathetic points of views
Corporate con
adept, deceitful, doesn’t take responsibility, blames others, do well in politics/business
Corporate bully
Not as sophisticated, relies on coercion, fear, callous to almost everyone, reacts aggressively to provocation, no remorse
Corporate puppetmaster
combination of con and bully; usually in control of employees/systems so protected from discipline; gets those under their control to abuse those even lower
What did Mokros and colleagues find in their study?

2) Manipulative - high in all except antisocial - all talk no action
