Q
How do you incorporate generalist training in neuropsych?
A
- Interview: collecting information and building rapport
- Feedback: meeting them where they’re at, motivational interviewing if necessary (“uniquely positioned to provide brief intervention above and beyond what other types of clinicans can”)
5
Q
Do you want to prescribe?
A
- I recognize the benefit (reduce obstacles to care)
- I don’t think it’s necessary in AMCs since it’s such a closely collaborative setting; treatment can be discussed with the care team
- I would be willing to consider it should the need arise in a more rural setting but it’s not something I feel the need to pursue at this time though I am open to it if circumstances change in the future
