Psychodynamic / Freudian Perspective
A
- When human beings are born they are essentially animals
- They are socialized by their parents to be functioning members of society largely in the first five years of life
- The expectations, beliefs, and pressures are pushed into unconscious, and manifest in different ways throughout the rest of a person’s life

Behavioral Perspective
A
- Behavior that has been rewarded will be repeated
- Behavior that has been punished will diminish
- Behaviorists believe that thoughts and feelings don’t matter - we act in the way that we do because of how we’ve learned to act in previous environments

Humanistic Perspectives
A
- Every person in born with potential
- How we feel about ourselves, and what we believe about ourselves, shapes the decisions we make
- Our self-esteem is influenced by what we believe about ourselves that determines the choices we make

Cognitive Perspective
A
- Believes there is a cycle of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
- Our conscious thoughts are often automatic, but can be changed
- Believes that patterns of thought are the basis for out behaviors

Biological Perspectives
A
- Believes that behavior is based on physiological processes
- Believes that brain structure, hormones, neurotransmitters, etc influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors

Socio-cultural Perspective
A
- Believes our behavior is shaped by our immediate and cultural environments
- Takes into account the conditions in which we exhibit behavior
- Also factors in cultural norms, expectations and beliefs
