A
A stimulus may provoke an immediate response (similar to a panic attack)

A
- persistent fear, excessive or unreasonable
- exposure to phobic stimulus provokes immediate anxiety response
- person recognises it as excessive
- phobic situation is avoided
- disrupts person’s normal life
- lasted more than 6 months

A
- psychological or automatic symptoms must be primary manifestations of anxiety and not secondary to other symptoms
- anxiety must be restricted to presence of particular phobic object or situation
- phobic situation is avoided

- delusions
- hallucinations
- disorganised speech or behaviour
- losing emotional responses
- inability to feel pleasure
