claimed it was the oedipus complex , sexually desired thier mother , feared castration from bite and horse falling unconscious desire for dad to be dead
what was the conclusion from hans study
supports freuds ideas
what is the PEE for little hans study
p- supports pscyhodynamic approach
e- displaced fear of dad with horses , whie horse with black is dads beard. Fear of bing bitten by hors = fear of castration
e- supports psychodynamic approach , explains the oedipus complex , how children deal with conflict in the phallic stage
strength of psychodynamic approach- introduced pyscho therapy
- first attempt at treating mental disorders and dealing with every day problems. unconscious dream analysis
e- fore runner for modern day therapy
limitation- claimed succsesful
e- inappropriate for serious disorders eg schizophrenia
e- Freudian therapy does not apply to all mental disorders
strength- has explanatory power
e- bizzae that huge influence on contemporay throught, explains wide range of behaviors on adult behaviour
e- positive influence on psychology
limitation- untestable concepts
e- doesn’t meet the scientific criteria, criteria of falsification , concepts like Oedipus are impossible to test , with unconscious mind
e- lacks scientific rigor , pseudoscience not real
