What is repression?
Pushing memories into the unconscious so they seem forgotten
What is denial?
Refusing or rejecting reality
What is displacement?
Feelings redirected to an alternative safe place
What are the psychosexual stages?
- Oral
- Anal
- Phallic
- Latency
- Genitals
What is the oral stage?
- Mouth satisfaction
- 0-1 years
- Cause smoking, over dependant and gullible people
What is the anal stage?
- Potty training
- 1-3 years
- Become disorganised, messy or very clean
What is the phallic stage?
- Development of morals and gender identity
- 3-5 years
- Unconscious sexual desires
What is the latency stage?
- Issues of previous stages repressed
- 5-12 years
What is the genitals stage?
- Attractes to opposite sex
- 12+ years

Where painful childhood experiences are represeed
