Frued suggested that the part of our mind we are aware of is the CONSIOUS (thoughts and perceptions) then pre conscious ( we become aware of in dreams or Freudian slip) , then unconscious (Drives)

1-3 years -focus of pleasure is anus - faeces -if unresolved could be ——- retentive - obsessive perfectionist ——— expulsive - thoghktless, messy
Phalic stage
3-5 years
Genital pleasure
Boys - Oedipus complex
Girls - Electra complex
If unresolved- homosexual, narcassistic
Latency
Any earlier conflicts are repressed

Sexual desires become consious alongside the onset of puberty
If unresolved- difficulty forming heterosexual stages
