G: a(G)granulocytosis *tell pt. tp report sore throat/fever
TCA Tx & names
Mood elevator
-Trazadone (desyrel), Avatil (Nortiptyline), Elavil (Amitriptyline), Trofranil
Take 2-4 weeks to feel effects)

Tx: Antidepressants
monitor for Hypertensive crisis via tyramine
What foods avoid with MAIOs
Avoid Tyramine food
-Bananas, Avocados, Raisins (BAR)
-Organ & Smoked, Cured, Dried Meat (preserved/processed meats)
-Aged cheese, yogurt
-alcohol
-caffeine
-Chocolate & licorice
MAOI SE
A: Anticholinergic esp. Dry mouth
B: Blurred vision & Bladder retention
C: Constipation
D: Drowsiness
Lithium tx. & Nursing considerations
Tx. Bipolar (decrease feeling of mania)
Nursing considerations:
Lithium toxicity: >2.0
S/s: tremors, diarrhea, metallic taste
Nursing action: GIVE FLUIDS
Low Na=High lithium
SE of Lithium
Polyuria
Pooping
Parathesis
SSRI tx & Names
Elevate mood
Prozac, paroxetine, sertraline
Can cause insomnia give before 12 (noon)
