High Potency Neuroleptics

A

Extrapyramidal Side Effects -

  • Acute dystonia –> akathisia –> Parkinsonism –> tardive dyskinesia

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

  • Fever, myoglobinuria, rigidity, autonomic instability
  • Tx. w/ dantrolene & or bromocriptine

Anti-cholinergic effects (more w/ amitryptiline)
