lower intellect scores under 70 on an IQ test
Communication disorder
language disorder, stutter
Autism spectrum disorder
struggles with communication, doesn’t get social ques (give and take) fixated interest
specific learning disorder
acidemic functioning is below the average for your chronological age, mathematics, reading, or writing disorder
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Needs 6 symptoms of intentions and 6 symptoms of hyperactivity, symptoms must be present for at least 6 months, needed in 2 domains(school, home, etc)
Motor disorder
functional impairment, involuntary spasms, turrets
Anxiety disorders (def)
Group of disorders whose most dominant symptom is excessive or unrealistic anxiety fearfulness
Free-floating anxiety
appears to have no specific cause, always anxious all the time
Generalized anxiety disorder
person is tense apprehensive and in a state of autonomic nervous system arousal
Panic disorder
experiences panic attacks palpitations, sweating nausea, feelings of dread, lost control, and feelings like you are going to die.
Phobia
persistent irrational fear of a specific object or situation intense illogical fear of something, there are over 700 phobias, most common are stage fright, agoraphobia, arachnophobia, and clowns
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
unwanted repetitive thoughts and or actions must be extremely time-consuming and must take up at least 1 hour of your day
hoarding disorder
difficult time discarding items, huge accommodation of valved items
body dysmorphia disorder
perceived flaws or deflect they perceived that no one else perceives-not about weight
Post-traumatic stress disorder
resulting from exposure to as major stressor, with symptoms of anxiety, nightmares, poor sleep, concentration problems and reliving the event (lasts longer than a month )
