A) Self-Supportive when recipient feels appreciated / cared for
B) Self-Threatening when recipient feels inferior & overly dependent
basically its saying: the recipient’s perception of help depends on feelings of appreciation vs. inferiority.
Paradox of Help Seeking
Don’t ask = don’t get help with problem
Ask = get help but take hit to self-esteem
