Explain the pathophysiology of psoriasis?

A
  • Caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors - associated with specific HLA genes & occurs at sites of trauma, anxiety and stress makes symptoms worse
  • results in increased epidermal turnover which creates psoriatic plaque
