Pseudo Memory Items Flashcards
What are limitations on climb power?
- Outside Icing conditions - Inside Icing conditions
Less of 90% or climb power chart
Climb charts TRQ in icing
When checking landing weight from FMS and comparing it to FLaPs program. What must it be inside ?
250kg. If outside this figure. Crew must investigate why
Descent Calculation ?
Effects of HW & TW
3 x feet to lose
HW subtract 1nm per 10kts
TW add 1nm per 10kts
Signal to cabins 2 chimes indicates what ?
5 minutes until landing - or
5 minutes to the commencement of an instrument approach
When selecting Gear Down - what must you also select?
Taxi Light and
Auto coarsen
What are the speed tolerances before the PNF must call “SPEED” ?
+/- 10kts
When must prop sync be switched on and off?
Must be switched:
ON - during climb scan action flow after CL’s are set to 1230rpm
OFF - prior to selecting CL’s to Max for an approach or Landing.
On landing Vfa must be bugged.
If two bugs Vfa and Venroute will both be set. If only 1 bug available what must you set.
If Vfa is less than Venroute than you will set Vfa
What occurs at:
80kts
40kts
80kts - your ailerons
40kts - Gust Lock
If a go around is initiated prior to the FAF or prior to 1000ft Visual.
What power setting do you set ?
Manually set approx 80% and adjust as required.
As CTOT valve is calculated at aerodrome level you may risk over temp/TRQ at a higher altitude.
What is MCP?
MCP is 944 degrees ITT and initially no greater than 100% TRQ until referring to MCP table.
In icing conditions Normal operations what Venroute speed shall be adapted as recommended by SAAB?
160kts
If 160kts and an average of 500fpm cannot be maintained considering leaving current icing conditions.
On a cold day why may:
ENG OIL BYPASS illuminate ?
FUEL TEMP LOW illuminate ?
ENG OIL BYPASS - due to high oil viscosity
FUEL TEMP LOW - as the PGB oil is not acting as a heating medium for the fuel heater as yet.
What power condition shall be used in icing conditions ?
Rated Power
What is a precautionary method of determining the accretions of ice on the ACFT?
Bug your current Speed and any deterioration from this speed may indicates accumulation of ice on the ACFT surfaces
What should you consider when climbing AEO in mod/sev turb ?
Should consider increasing speed by 10-15kts as the alpha vanes are sensitive to fluctuations in load factor
What climb speeds relate to the segments below:
- T/O to Acceleration Altitude
- Acceleration Altitude to MMA/MSA/LSA
- MMA to further
- V2 safety speed
- Venroute +10 (icing). +20 icing and 1/2 bank off if (OEI)
- Further acceleration above MSA/MMA/LSA
160kts or into L,M,H climb
Why must L,M,H climb modes not be used in icing conditions ?
As there is no IAS protection, the autopilot logic will try and maintain a min 100fpm rate of climb regardless of IAS
What are L,M,H climb modes?
Low - Best rate of climb outside icing conditions
Medium - compromise between Low and High
High - gives optimum distance/altitude ratio
If a TIMER master caution is experienced what must be done?
Increase TRQ up to 25-30% to achieve sufficient LP bleed air, once extinguished reactive boots.
If illuminates again refer QRH
A ruptured boot may also indicated a torn or ruptured boot. Landings with this shall be conducted at Flap 0
Low Vis take off requirement if below 550RVR?
LP take off only
Commands from PM - Steer Left/Right. PF - checked
Selecting HP’s on the ground with feathered props ?
PL - 77%
HP Bleeds - OPEN
PL - Restore 77%
consider X-VALVE for increased airflow
Descent speeds HIGH & LOW ?
LOW - 220KIAS
HIGH - 250KIAS
What is defined as a stabilised approach ?
The aircraft is on track
Aircraft is on an slope
The aircraft is in proposed landing config (Flap 35 may be delayed until 500’)
Speed is within limits
ROD not more than 1000fpm
Appropriate power setting is selected
Requires no more than normal corrections to stay on profile
