A suitable airport is one to which the Company operates or could operate a regular scheduled service (RPT). The following minimum standards apply unless otherwise approved by CASA.
An alternate airport is one that an aircraft can plan to use if a landing at the intended
airport becomes impossible or inadvisable. Alternate airports have the characteristics or
services detailed under the following headings.The physical characteristics of an alternate airport are the same as those for ‘suitable airport’.
An emergency airport is one at which it is reasonable to expect to safely land the aircraft in an emergency in which there is immediate risk to the safety of the aircraft.
