Proximal GIT II - Salivary Glands Flashcards

1
Q

types of salivary glands (3)

A
Parotid= anterior to ear, almost exclusively serous acini (in face, small duct // mucus not viable)
SubMandibular= under mandible, 80% serous

Q

when is it salivary or pancreas glands

Q

diff b/w parotid and submandibular gland

A

o Mucus acini (pale staining)
o Mucus vs serous cells in acinus
• Colour > Stain different, mucus= pale + serous = darker
• Nucleus > central in serous, peripheral (on basement) in mucus
o Duct vs serous acini
• Duct= lumen
