Q

Malaria Transmission Cycle

A
  1. Infection - sporozoites enter human
  2. Merozoites form in liver cells (hepatocytes) and lyse hepatocytes
  3. Merozoites released
  4. Red blood cells get infected
  5. Asexual reproduction - ring form in RBCs
  6. Trophozoites form in RBCs
  7. Trophozoites multiply to make schizont which lyses RBCs

Q

What makes you attractive to mosquitoes?

A

-Body Odor- certain products present in our breath, skin, sweat attract mosquitoes
-Skin bacteria- high diversity of microbes on skin may be LESS attractive to mosquitoes
-Pregnancy- more attractive due to body temp increase

Due to eating undercooked meat or beings exposed to cat faeces

17
Q

A

Entamoeba histolytica
Dirty water contaminates by faeces

A

Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus

19

Leishmania via sandfly bite

Q

How is Schistosomiasis acquired?

A

Contaminated fresh water
