Protein synthesis Flashcards

1
Q

What is the protein synthesis - transduction and translation steps?

A

Through internal or external chemical messenger - dna is activated to produce a pre MRNA copy of the functional gene (transcription)

The pre-mRNA is modified to remove introns and remaining Econ’s are linked together to form mRNA.

Then the mRNA leaves the nucleares and enter a the cytoplasm

mRNA buns to ribosome that contains rRNA / which helps controls protein synthesis (translation)

Another rna , tRNA transports amino acid to subunits to the Robson where they are assmebeled into polypeptides (activation and transport.)

Transcription:

A
  1. transciption engines when transaction factors bind to promoter bear the gene
  2. RNA polymerase bonds to the promoter as well and a segment of DNA unwinds
  3. termination : tea option ends when the of the gene is reached and the mRNA transcript is released

Q

What is the function of tRNA?

A

It’s function for getting the right amino acids to the ribosome synthesis there are 40 different trans. Each one coding for a specific amino acid.

Q

Translation :

A

—- initiation - translation begins when an intitaTor tRNA bonds with the mRNA and start the codon in the ribosome.

Elongation

  1. Another tRNA bonds to hit open A site
  2. b the first amino acid detached from the tRNA at the p site and is joined to the second amino acid peptide bond.
  3. Termination - translation end when the ribosome reached the stop codon and the completed polypeptide is released
