measurement of a substance involving a number and unit

- any change unrelated to the substance’s chemical identity
- the substance remains the same at the atomic level

what is a chemical property?
describing how matter reacts or changes when it is exposed to other substances or heat or light

- a new colour appears
- a gas forms (bubbles, smoke, invisible but new odour)
- a precipitate forms
- energy is released or absorbed
what is a precipitate and how is it identified?
a solid that forms when two solutions are mixed; it can be recognized because the mixture turns cloudy
what 4 things can energy be in the form of?
heat, light, electricity, sound
