How many degrees of disease prevention are there?

What does each one aim to do?

A

There are three degrees of disease prevention.

1) primary - avoids disease starting in the first place
2) secondary - to detect disease early and to treat disease early to halt or slow its progression
3) tertiary - to limit the damage from disease to reduce the progress and severity and maximise the patients QOL.
