children, elderly, individuals with chronic diarrhea, hemorroids
What are the patterns of prolapse of anus?
Qi and blood deficiency
Damp heat
Etiology of damp heat
Common: diet, too much spicy, fatty, sweet and smoking
Long term hemorroids, constipation, damp heat accumulate at rectum
There are 3 degrees of prolapse, what happens in the 1st degree
- mild
- Prolapse: mucus of rectum, 3-5 cm out of anus
- does not bleed easily
- able to recover itself after BM
2nd degree?
Mucus and muscle layer will protrude 5-10 cm
Does not recover by itself, will need help
Could have some bleeding due to scratching
Mild pain
3rd degree
Whole rectum and sigmoid more than 10 cm
Slow onset, start with distending and draggling sensation of rectum during defecation and returning to normal after BM. Without proper treatment recurrence may happen by overstrain and the prolapsed rectum fails to return spontaneously without the aid of hand
Swallow complexion, fatigue, SOB, palpitations, dizziness
Pale tongue with thin white coating
Qi and Blood deficiency
Usually seen in acute dysentery or inflamed hemorrhoids, prolape of rectum with beating down sensation around anus, tenesmus
red and swollen anus with burning pain and itchingg
red tongue with yellow greasy coating
Damp heat
