Grade uterine prolapse
Grade 1: uterus has descended but still in vagina
Grade 2: cervix desc to outside introitus but uterus body still in vagina
Grade 3: body of uterus outside vagina

Prolapsed urethra (ant wall prolapse)

Prolapsed posterior bladder wall - ant wall prolapse
Def rectocoele
Prolapse ant rectal wall - post wall prolapse
Def enterocoele
Prolapse of pouch of Douglas - post wall prolapse
Def procidentia
Grade 4 POP - herniation of ant, post and apical vag compartments through introitus
Grade 1 POP
Distal portion of prolapse >1cm above hymen
Grade 2 POP
Distal portion of prolapse ≤1 cm above or below hymen
Grade 3 POP
Distal portion prolapse >1cm below hymen but without complete vaginal eversion
Surgery to rx POP(3)
Sarcocolpopexy (mesh)
Pessaries
Colporrhaphy (repair vag wall)
Symptoms of Anterior genital wall prolapse
Urinary: stress incontinence, frequency
Symptoms of central genital prolapse (ie cervix, uterus) (2)
Bleeding and or discharge from ulceration in association with procidentia
Discomfort, dragging, feeling of “lump”
Symptoms posterior genital prolapse
Bowel symptoms, especially feeling of incomplete evacuation and something having to press post wall back to pass stool
