How should the low risk foetus be monitored intrapartUm? (2)

Answer 1

• Latent phase: 4 hourly foetal heart auscultation
• other observations as per intrapartum care guidelines
• active phase: half hourly foetal heart auscultation. Perform for 1 minute after a contraction. Ideally should use doptone but auscultation also acceptable

How should the high risk foetus be monitored intrapartUm? (2)

• Latent phase: 4 hourly ctg
• active: ideally continuous ctg but half hourly acceptable.
