Project Life Cycle Flashcards
Project phases are used to:
help plan and manage major system developments.
List the life cycle phases
Pre-A, A, B, C, D, E, F
What is a baseline?
An agreed set of requirements designs and documents. A complete system description including requirements, designs, and documents.
Pre-Phase A
Concept Initiation and Studies
Purpose: to produce a broad spectrum of ideas and alternatives for a mission.
Phase A
Concept and Technology Development
Purpose: to determine the feasibility of new system in preparation.
Phase B
Preliminary Design and Technology Completion
Purpose: to define the project in enough detail to establish an initial baseline.
Phase C
Detailed Design + Fabrication
Purpose: to design a system so that it can meet its requirements
Phase D
System Assembly, Integration, Test, and Launch
Purpose: to build the subsystems and integrate them into the overall system
Phase E
Operations and Sustainment
Purpose: to ensure that the certified system is ready for operations
Phase F
Closeout
To dispose the system responsibly
System Requirements Baseline
Approved system level functional and performance requirements.
Functional Baseline
Documentation describing a system’s functional performance and interfaces and verification methods to test those requirements
Allocated Baseline
Extends top-level requirements of the functional baseline to sufficient detail for manufacturing or coding
Product Baseline
Detailed form, fit and function. Production acceptance test requirements.
‘As-Built’ Baseline
Form fit and function of system as it was built.
