Stakeholder:
Any party that is interested in or affected by the outcome of the project
Stakeholder analysis:
- Who gets the output
- Who provides the input
- Managers of input providers or output recipients
- Who has related responsibilities
- Who gets the reward and benefits
- Who suffers the penalties and consequences
Stakeholder analyses drives:
- Project organisation/governance design
- Project process definition
- Communication planning
- Detailed requirements analysis
- Risk planning
- Resting and training
Project Governance:
The framework by which the project is directed and controlled
Key Roles - The Project Sponsor (Executive):
Authorizes and funds the project (via the Business Case), makes executives decisions beyond the Project Manager’s authority, has the power to overcome issues/ conflicts/remove barriers to project success (or cancel the project)
Key Roles - Project Steering Committee or Board:
Provides senior level guidance to the project and facilitates integration of the PM team with functional units. Project Control and Assurance role. May also act as Change Authority
Key Roles - Project Manager
Leads projects activities and the day-to-day management of the project. Responsible for project delivery.
Project Management Team (Project Support):
Supports the project manager (e.g. on administrative tasks)
Project Team (Team Managers):
Perform (coordinates) project activities
Project Charter:
A document that formally authorises the Project and assigns a Project Manager, includes elements:
1) Objectives & Business Case
2) High-Level Scope/State of Work
3) High-Level Budget Information
4) High-Level Timelines/Target Dates
5) Project Organization/Governance Information
6) Success Criteria
7) Initial Set of Risks
