What is an exception?
A situation where a deviation beyond agreed tolerance levels can be forecast.
What tolerances is the project manager responsible for dealing with?
Only those within the work package tolerances.
The team manager must raise work package tolerances and work package progress/issues to the PM.
If there is going to be an issue or exceeded tolerance on a stage, who does the PM escalate to?
The project board
If the project board have exceptions or progress issues for the project that exceeds project tolerances, who do they escalate to?
CPC
Who produces a checkpoint report?
Typically produced by team manager for the PM with details of progress against work package.
Who produces a highlight report?
PM for the project board. Details progress for the whole project or management stage.
Who produces the end stage report?
PM for project board with details of progress towards each management stage (except last stage as this is an end stage report). Provides sufficient detail to ask for a project board decision on what to do next.
Who provides project tolerances and documents them in the project mandate?
CPC

CPC for project tolerances
Executive for management stage tolerances
PM for work package tolerances
When a supplier is updating someone on a decision, which report is needed?
No report - just a work package
If something happens which causes a delay but it is still within time tolerance - what report should be used to record this?
Checkpoint report as it is still within tolerance
If there were problems throughout a stage and there are recommendations for future projects, what report is used to record this?
End stage report as this has the lessons log.
Are checkpoint reports time driven or event driven?
They are time driven not event driven. They are predetermined
Can checkpoint reports be oral?
Yes and checkpoint reports can change in format and frequency at any time if agreed by relevant authority
Is the issue register created in the starting up a project process?
No - the daily log is used to record issues until the register becomes available
