Professionalism and Teamwork Flashcards
Explain a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you handled it.
Self reflection, direct communication, actively listening, remained professional, put issues aside for shift, did not ignore. Asked for feedback from a neutral source, attempted direct communication again, unsuccessful. Discussed with manager, issue was clarified, had conversation with co worker, issue was resolved.
Describe how you normally respond to feedback from superiors such as physicians and charge nurses.
I always listen thoroughly to the feedback I receive and incorporate it into my actions moving forward. However, if it seems the superior does not have a complete understanding of a patient’s treatment or status, I respectfully respond in ways that make it clear I don’t let my pride, nor fear of speaking up, interfere with my goal of providing the best possible care.
Talk about a time when you had to put aside personal needs to ensure the psychiatry team continued to function smoothly at your workplace.
I was going onto a night shift where we were short staffed and two seclusions. I received the news that one of my family members unexpectedly passed. During this time I was able to composed myself and reserve my emotions for a later time to ensure the safety of the unit. Even though this news was devastating, the functioning and safety of my co-worker took priority.
