Involuntary certificate
-Valid for 14 days in community after physician assessment. Anyone can bring this person to hospital
-Valid for 48 hrs in hospital, needs second doctor to assess for involuntary admission.
Form 4 X1 = Valid for 48 hrs
Form 4 X2 = Valid for 1 month after date / time of the first Form 4

What are the 4 criteria to be admitted under the mental health act?

A

1) is suffering from a mental disorder that seriously impairs the persons ability to react appropriately to his or her environment or to associate with others
2) Requires psychiatric treatment in or through a designated facility
3) Requires care, supervision and control in or through a designated facility to prevent the person’s substantial mental or physical deterioration OR for the persons own protection or the protection or others
4) is not suitable as a voluntary patient

What is the difference between the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)

A

Both legislative frameworks designed to govern the handling of information

FIPPA: Applies to public bodies, grants individuals the right to access records held by public bodies and sets rules for protecting personal information.

PIPA: Applies to private sector organizations. Regulates how private organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information, emphasizing privacy protection.
