What have you done to improve your knowledge in Psychiatric nursing since last year?
Something that I have been actively working on is going through and re-organizing / reviewing my nursing notes from university. This way I not only keep my knowledge fresh, but make it more accessible and easier to locate if I feel I need to review a topic. As this is a huge task, I have separated the topics into smaller pieces to make sure I stay on track. Besides this, for self improvement I have made a commitment to myself to practise more self care and recently have returned to engaging in swimming after 10 years. I am motivated to maintain this lifestyle to ensure I don’t burn out and have a good work-life balance.
What are your strengths?
Unit awareness, critical thinking, risk behaviour recognition, organisation, asking for help when I need it, willing to learn new things, willing to acknowledge weaknesses
What are your weaknesses?
Being too self critical, improving by treating the situation as a learning opportunity.
What feedback for improvement have you received?
To not be so hard on myself. That perfectionism isn’t realistic or possible and be forgiving of myself.
